  • What are the different types of dances I can learn?
Ballroom dancing encompasses many different styles and feelings. Whether you are interested in smooth classic dances such as the Waltz or Tango, or more rhythmic and club dances like Salsa, Hustle, or East Coast Swing, I am more than happy to guide you through multiple dances to find what you enjoy the most and what will meet your goals.
  • Do I need a partner to take lessons?
No; while I am happy to work with couples, I can also dance in either role as your partner during our lessons.
  • How do I book my first lesson?
Potential students are welcome to either request a first lesson through this website or email me at bannonfrankballroom@gmail.com. I ask all potential students to provide some brief information regarding any dance background you may have, your goals/motivations for learning how to dance, and what type of music you like. This information helps to ensure our first lesson is a success and allows me to develop a lesson plan tailored for you.
  • What should I wear to my first lesson?
I encourage my students to wear clothes that are comfortable and easy to move in, without too much excess fabric that can get in the way of dancing. Footwear should be comfortable, with little or no heel. Dress shoes or flats work well, athletic sneakers can sometimes have too much grip.
  • Do I need to arrive early?
I encourage my students to arrive for their lesson about 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time to allow you to settle in, change your shoes if needed, and stretch a bit. If I am providing a home lesson you can expect me to arrive a few minutes before our scheduled start time.
  • What should I expect for my first lesson?
I request that all new students fill out the questionnaire prior to the first lesson, it will provide me with a bit of information regarding your dance goals and motivations. From there we'll get straight into the dancing! I'll start with the basic step of the dance style you'll be learning and then we'll go from there to learn more at a rate that is comfortable for you.
